ABOUT STRABISMUS IN TURKEY

STRABISMUS IS CONDITION WHEREYES ARE MISALIGNED AND DO NOT WORK TOGETHER. IT CAN CAUSE THE EYES TO LOOK IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. THE TYPES OF STRABISMUS INCLUDE ESOTROPIA (INWARD EYE TURN), EXOTROPIA (OUTWARD EYE TURN), HYPERTROPIA (UPWARD EYE TURN), AND HYPOTROPIA (DOWNWARD EYE TURN).   • Retinal detachment.

DEFINITION OF STRABISMUS

Conjunctiva – is inside the eye and covers the sclera.

Lid speculum – an instrument used to keep the eyes wide open and free from blinking.

General Anesthesia – variety of medications given to ensure unconsciousness, loss of control of reflexes. The patient is put to sleep to not feel any pain or discomfort.

Dissolvable sutures – sutures, which are eventually absorbed by the body so there is no need for the removal of sutures.

FIRST DAY

The patient will attend a consultation with the ophthalmologist and will be advised about the procedure and their condition. The patient will then be taken through couple of tests that are required before the treatment. If desired, patients can spend the day to rest and attend the clinic the next day.

SECOND DAY
